Two Legends of Marvel Studios episodes that drew fan complaints and were removed from Disney+ have now been read to the streaming service.
During Phase 4, new MCU projects usually preceded Legends episodes that summarized key details and events.
Based on the 17 movies, series, and specials that used to be the final chapter of Marvel’s storytelling, 26 of these five- to ten-minute recaps were released.
They were generally ignored by most fans, but it led to a recent Marvel project, two new ones Legends episodes spawned viral controversy for spoiling a major plot twist that had been revealed in advance.
Now that phase 4 is over and phase 5 is about to begin Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniathese two episodes were restored.
Two MCU Episode Spoilers Restored on Disney+
Marvel Studios has finally added again Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special– his themed episodes Legends recap of the series on Disney+. These two shorts explored the MCU history of Mantis and Drax prior to their starring roles in the second Marvel Studios special.
The reason for their removal started when two episodes dropped on the streamer two days before Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Specialwhich spoiled a key reveal from the Special presentation, leading to them being quickly pulled from the service a few days later.
Unfortunately, the episode “Mantis” contained a deleted scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where Mantis and Drax discuss her being Peter Quill’s sister.
Disney+ was believed to have included a deleted scene to set up Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Speciala big revelation that turned out to be true.
The Legends The episodes appear to have apparently returned to Disney+ unchanged, with the spoiler scene still highlighted in the final minute of the “Mantis” episode of the two.
Disney+ has been cracking down on a number of Marvel Studios properties recently, recently removing several episodes of a docu-series. Marvel Studios: Assembledonly to re-add each installment as its own individual special.
How will Marvel handle the Legends episodes in Phase 5?
Since this revelation was not only key to the Special Presentation, it was also likely Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3it’s shocking that this random spoiler even fell through the cracks at Marvel Studios – given the Hollywood powerhouse’s notorious spoiler security.
The only explanation is that St. 2 the scene was released many years ago at the time the film was made. Perhaps when putting together the recap, the editor simply didn’t realize that this scene and revelation was missing from the actual release, technically placing it outside the MCU canon until Holiday special he came
Although it’s unfortunate that a number of fans had this emotional beat Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special spoiled beforehand, it was great to see how quick Disney+ was to remove episodes and only now restore them once most viewers had time to watch the special.
This isn’t the first time a Marvel Studios property has been edited to avoid a spoiler, with a slight change in the She-Hulk the finale helps viewers enjoy the episode a little more.
It will be interesting to see how these Legends of Marvel Studios episodes are processed in advance Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and for the rest of Phase 5. The studio will no doubt be more careful than ever to ensure that similar spoilers aren’t accidentally revealed in the future.
