The Rolling Stones were in combat form when they began their European tour in Madrid, Spain, on Tuesday.

Mick Jagger, 78, Keith Richards, 78, and Ronnie Wood, 75, all performed on the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium stage at the start of their Sixty tour.

When Keith discussed the band’s six-decade-long career, he likened the group’s relationship to marriage, explaining how long they lasted.

He told The Mirror, “It’s been a hell of a long time. How are you doing it? It’s kind of like marriage in a way. ”

The musician added to The Sun: ‘We had our ups and downs, of course. But in the end, we always noticed that we were more creative together.

“And of course through these – my God! – Six decades, you’re used to yourself.

“The strange thing about being part of a well-trained group is getting to know the others so well that you can anticipate what will happen next. ‘

The Rolling last played in Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in 2014 with a tour, 14 on Fire Tour.

The band last stopped in Spain in 2017 to perform in Barcelona.

The Sixty Tour will end at the end of July in Stockholm, Sweden. However, on June 25 and July 3, UK fans will perform Hyde Park.

The Sixty Tour will be the first European tour in which the Rolling Stones will perform without drummer Charlie Watts, who died last August.

Mick went to Instagram on Wednesday to document his trip to Madrid as he inspected some of the city’s sights.

Rocker visited some local landmarks, gallery and bar and wrote: ‘Enjoy a lot of what Madrid has to offer, from fallen angels to flamenco!’

In 2021, Ronnie revealed that he had secretly fought cancer for the second time during the lock-up and admitted that he had been diagnosed with small cell cancer, but “went through it.”

This is the second time Ronnie has beaten cancer, because in 2017 he successfully fought lung cancer after 54 years of smoking 25 to 30 cigarettes a day.

And after part of his lungs were removed, he confirmed that in 2018 he was cancer free.
