WWDC 2022 officially begins on Monday with Apple’s introductory keynote at 10:00 a.m. PT. During this keynote, Apple will officially unveil updates including iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9 and macOS 13. Before WWDC began, there were last-minute rumors of what to expect, including the possibility of a new MacBook Air. , major updates to the multitasking features of the iPadOS 16 and more.

This year, WWDC 2022 includes, in addition to online options, a small personal component. A small group of developers and the press were invited to Apple Park for the main lecture as well as related labs, interviews and more. The AR / VR headset is not expected
While announcing or teasing about Apple’s long-proclaimed AR / VR headset once seemed like a guarantee for WWDC 2022, it doesn’t seem to be. Due to persistent development problems, supply chain problems and complex integration between hardware and software, the Apple Headset is now likely to be debuting in 2023.
Bloomberg already in January, they announced that the Apple Headset faced many development problems, including overheating problems. Apple also reportedly struggled with proper hardware-software integration, as well as camera hardware issues.
Last month, Information confirmed many of these details and added additional context. According to this report, Jony Ive’s decision that the Apple Headset should be a fully stand-alone device proved to be a problem.
Apple’s first plans were for the first version of the headset to work with the base station, which would allow the headset itself to be smaller and rely on the base station for things like power and battery. However, Jony Ive did not think that such a product would be a convincing option for consumers.
This decision has reportedly led to many developmental problems, including those reported Bloomberg. The team working on the Apple Headset tried to balance “battery life and performance while minimizing the heat generated so that people would not get burned while wearing the device.”
With all that being said, it is clear that Apple is not quite ready to announce its AR / VR headset at this year’s WWDC. While it is possible that we will receive some type of trailer, a more likely scenario is that any type of Apple headset will not be announced or launched before 2023.
MacBook Air possible, but not as colorful as they say
As for the new hardware at WWDC, rumors are a bit mixed. However, the most likely candidate seems to be the new MacBook Air. The redesigned MacBook Air has been talked about for almost a year, but Apple has faced persistent supply chain problems across all areas.
Rumors suggest that the new MacBook Air will have a new flat design based on the 24-inch iMac. While earlier reports have indicated that the new MacBook Air will be available in similar, if not the same, colors as the iMac, this may not be the case.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman went to Twitter on Friday night to share the latest news about this MacBook Air. According to Gurman, reports that the MacBook Air comes in “several colors” are “probably exaggerated.”
According to Gurman, we are should expect a new MacBook Air in the same colors as the current model. This would include cosmic gray, silver and gold. Gurman notes that gold will be “more like champagne” than the current color. Gurman also says the new MacBook Air could be available in a blue color similar to a 24-inch iMac.
As for the release date, Gurman says the new MacBook Air “was scheduled for launch at WWDC.” The only thing that would prevent this would be if the supply chain problems in China “created such a supply and loosening gap that it would not make sense to announce it on Monday.”
IPadOS multitasking upgrades 16
Finally, a Bloomberg This week’s report indicated that the iPadOS 16 is expected to be one of the biggest announcements at WWDC on Monday. According to the report, iPadOS will bring “a redesigned multitasking interface that makes it easier to see what applications are open and switch between tasks.”
The update will also bring new ways to resize application windows, along with “new ways to handle multiple applications at once.” Apple’s goal is to turn the iPadOS into a “laptop experience” in terms of multitasking and window support.
What exactly this means is yet to be seen, but there really seems to be growing evidence that this may be the year when Apple finally brings a major overhaul of the iPadOS multitasking.
